Originally a nurse, Julie Ling has worked in palliative care for the last twenty-five years in both adult and children’s palliative care holding a variety of posts in; clinical care; management; research; policy and the voluntary sector. Julie has written and published widely, she is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Palliative Nursing and a regular reviewer for several other journals. She presents at both national and international conferences and also contributes to education at third level. Julie was awarded a training fellowship by the Health Research Board, Ireland and successfully completed a PhD by research exploring the respite needs and experiences of parents caring for a child with a life-limiting condition at Trinity College, Dublin. As a member of the EAPC steering group for paediatric palliative care and chair of the children’s palliative care education taskforce Julie co-authored the white paper on education in children’s palliative care. Julie took up the post of CEO of the EAPC in January 2015.
